Tyreese R. McAllister is a licensed mental health practitioner with over twenty-five years of experience in the field of emergency mental health, helping individuals who have experienced crisis and traumatic events to recover and overcome through radical resilience. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Certified Clinical Supervisor (CCS), Certified Sex Offender Treatment Provider (CSOTP), and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) who has extensive forensic training and experience. Tyreese is the owner and Chief Clinical Officer of her private practice, Clinical & Forensic Associates, which serves the Washington metropolitan area, located in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.
After earning her master’s degree in Counseling Psychology she earned a Postmaster’s Certificate in Addictions Counseling from Johns Hopkins University. She is currently working on a doctorate in Psychology with a concentration on Criminality and Justice. Tyreese is the Chief Clinical Officer at her own private practice, serving clients who are challenged with some of life’s challenges and/or mental illness and traumatic experiences.
Tyreese is a bestselling coauthor of Soul Talk, Vol. 3. Tyreese has co-authored two additional books with her husband, Anthony J. McAllister: Mind Over Matter, Dealing with Stigma, Society and Self and Father’s Matter, Changing the Narrative of Black Fathers. Tyreese wrote a children’s book to teach children who have lost loved ones at the hands of someone else, about dealing with complicated grief. She was inspired to write this book after the homicide of her own 18-year-old daughter, Ayana, when she could not find such a book.
After experiencing the traumatic loss of their daughter, Tyreese and her husband co-founded the Ayana J. McAllister Legacy Foundation to address the everyday gun violence that occurs in the African American communities across the nation. Tyreese is the recipient of numerous awards and accolades for her work in the community. She is also a sought-after speaker and trainer.
