Ricardo came from the wide open space of south Texas where target shooting and growing up tough were the norms. He joined the Army and soon found himself competing against Army Rangers for a spot as a sniper. Ricardo was a member of the infamous 5th brigade who was struck with high casualty rates and a blemish that forever soiled the unit. 5th brigade has gone down in history for the terrible story of the “Kill Team” that caused an international incident that left host nation relationships strained. Ricardo wrote a book to tell the story of those who served in the 5th honorably. The servicemembers who fought for each other and did great things for the uniform. Ricardo talks about how his time in south Texas shaped his life in and out of the uniform. His book is titled “Born to Fail” and is available on Amazon.
