Travis has served on the board of the S.H.I.N.E. Foundation and Books by Vets. He shared his story in the first anthology published through Books by Vets titled, Walk with Warriors, a collection of 22 veteran authors. He also edited their second offering titled, Resilience Warriors, featuring 22 female veterans and their stories. He has helped start a dozen nonprofits, donated over $40,000, and volunteered over 1,500 hours. These exploits earned him the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. Through S.H.I.N.E., he helped raise $500,000 by hosting benefit concerts with BJ Thomas, Alan Parsons Project, Kris Kristofferson, and Jody Miller. We also helped to get several Oklahoma born female artists including Jody Miller, Katrina Elam, and Susie McEntire.
His donations and support were the primary push to create the Safari McDoulett Memorial on Crystal Lake in Oklahoma City. During her lifetime Safari sat on the board of 40 nonprofit organizations and worked overseas with Operation Smiles before her untimely car wreck.
